    Ladies and Gentlemen,

The All Council Camporee at Rogers Scout Reservation next weekend is quickly approaching. This event, with almost 900 registered and being full, is expected to be the largest council event in memory and will test the capacity of RSR. If your unit has registered but can't come for whatever reason, please let us know as we have had to turn units way.

As you can imagine, coordinating such a large group is going to be a lesson in being adaptable. This is especially true when it comes to vehicles, parking, unloading and troop trailers.

We are sure that you understand that safety is of primary concern. Thus, to ensure the safety of all:

*Due to the narrowness of the trails into the individual campsites and the closeness in which tents will have to be pitched, no vehicles will be allowed in the individual campsite areas.

*Unloading will be on the main road, Hammerschmidt Trail and Hembree Boulevard ONLY. A map of where driving will be permitted will be handed out at registration. However, it is safe to say that units will not be unloading directly into their campsites, i.e., equipment will have to be carried in. Thus, all units are encouraged to pack as if they were going backpacking.

*As driving to individual campsites will not be allowed, troop trailers will not be allowed in individual campsites. Again, pack as if you were going backpacking - or at least remember that everything will have to be carried in.

*After unloading in the appropriate area(s) all vehicles shall be moved to the established parking lots and ancillary areas as designated during the weekend. (Note: Parking in these areas will be at a premium. Please try to bring as few vehicles as possible)

*No parking will be allowed in front of the Parade Grounds. We have a large group coming in on Saturday to put on the events. As they are essentially doing this for us at no charge, the least we can do is save this area for them to unload and park.

*If you are arriving on Saturday, registration and parking will be at Scout World. We will run a shuttle back in forth to the Dining Hall if you have need.

Thank you for your understanding and tolerance of these safety minded policies as we prepare for the BEST CAMPOREE IN THE HISTORY OF THE COUNCIL! If you have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to contact me at hriceb at sbcgloabal.net.

    Yours In Scouting,

    H. Rice Brewer, Sr.
    Butterfield District Camping Chairman
