[Westark-list] Merit Badge Day, May 22, Troop 146

  Hi, Can you please forward this to all of the Scoutmasters or troops in Butterfield Trail District along with any others who you think might want this information.  Thank you very much, Lori Lensing

  Troop 146 in Greenwood, Arkansas is hosting a Merit Badge Day on Saturday, May 22nd at the First Baptist Church in the middle of Greenwood, from 9:00am until 3:00pm.  Registration begins at 7:45am and the opening will be at 8:45am.  Lunch time will be determined by the individual teachers, please bring a sack lunch because time may be short depending on the class.  The cost is $10.00 per Scout and snacks will be provided for them.  

  We have a wonderful staff of Merit Badge counselors this year.  These are the badges that will be offered:

  Citizenship in the Community - Garry Campbell - Mayor of Greenwood

  Citizenship in the Nation - Peggy Gilstrap - favorite History teacher 

  Personal Management - Barbara Clare - Gifted and Talented teacher

  Communications - Chris Blume or Lori Lensing - Assistant Scoutmaster 146 
                  class size limit is 20

  Emergency Preparedness - Wesley Harrison - Awards Chairman 146
                  earning the first aid merit badge is part of earning this one

  First Aid - Danny Oaks, Janet Taylor, Faye Gott - all work in the medical field 
                 need to bring a first aid kit, bring a note for requirement #1 - class size limit 20

  Leatherwork - Stan Kommander - Leather expert and part of our troop

  Public Speaking - Jessie Napier - Scoutmaster 146 - class size limit is 12

  There are a few classes which have a size limit, unless a limit is stated, the class sizes are unlimited.  Some of the merit badges have a requirement for a long term assignment or a visit to a certain type of place.  Those requirements will need to be completed outside of the merit badge day.  A list of completed requirements will be provided to the Scout at the end of the class.  Please have the boys read and bring their merit badge book if possible.

You can mail a list of Scouts to sign up with a check made to "BSA troop 146" to Lori Lensing, 131 Indian Hill Blvd., Greenwood, AR 72936.  You can also sign up by e-mail and pay during the morning registration on the day of the classes.  On classes with a size limit, please include a second choice.  Please give me a way to contact you with confirmation by e-mail or telephone.
