Wood Badge Training
Now Open to All B.S.A. Leaders
Spring, 2005: Two (Three Day) Weekend Sessions
March 11, 12, 13, 2005 and April 8, 9 and 10, 2005 at Rogers Scout Reservation
21st Century Wood Badge is the advanced training program for all B.S.A. Leadership (Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity, and Venture Leaders). Wood Badge is designed to train adult volunteer leaders, as well as Professional Scouters. Using the latest teaching methods and models, the Wood Badge course will equip you with skills and techniques that will help you be a better leader in your Scout unit, as well as at work, home and with other organizations. Starting in 1919, and continuing today, Wood Badge is the preeminent leadership training offered by the Boy Scouts of America.
Who May Attend Wood Badge:
To attend a Wood Badge course, Scouters must:
1.. Be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America. There is no minimum tenure requirement.
2.. Have not previously attended a Wood Badge course.
3.. Have completed the basic training course for their Scouting position.
4.. Have completed the outdoor skills training program appropriate for their Scouting position. Required for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and Varsity coaches and assistants. The Introduction of Outdoor Leader Skill training is highly recommended for all other participants attending Wood Badge course.
5.. Be capable of functioning safely in an outdoor environment. Current B.S.A. Class 3 Physical is required for all participants.
Because of the advanced nature of this training, the requirements above may not be waived. It is recommended that the participants have at least some camping experience, as Weekend Two is an outdoor experience.
